“Aire”, the new Dominican science fiction production

One of the most popular genres of cinema, Science Fiction, lands in Dominican territory with the beginning of the filming of “Aire”, under the Dominican production directed by Leticia Tonos.

The Mexican-French actress Sophie Gaelle, known for her performance in box office hits such as “El Señor de los Cielos” and “Rosario tijeras”, joins for the first time a national production by the hand of Línea Espiral, Less is More Producciones and Lántica Media, to share this film adventure on the big screen with the chameleon and multi-award-winning Dominican actor Jalsen Santana.

“I am very excited to arrive in the Dominican Republic to make films with a dream team,” said Sophie in a press release, who has developed her career in Mexico and who since 2019 stands out in the role of Amelia Fritz , in the Netflix original series “Monarch.”

Science Fiction is a genre that in recent years has increased its boom throughout the world, and that emerged in the 40’s and 50’s from the global concern about the outcome of humanity, revealing itself in its narrative, which constantly assesses the fate of the world and the effects of the same technology on society. “Air” is located in the year 2147, and faces environmental damage and the spread of a virus that has sterilized the human race, prophesying a very near extinction, in its plot.

From the first images we can feel the aridity and desolation from which its director Leticia Tonos has wanted to project this future, with a delicate wardrobe work and props that already give us touches of what this fantastic journey of cinema made here will be.
