A horror film “Medusa” in preparation at Fangoria

Anna chazelle was hired by Fangoria Studios to write and direct their upcoming horror film, based on Greek mythology from Astonished. The film will be produced by Tara Ansley, Armen Aghaeian and Abhi Goel of Fangoria Studios, and Phil wurtzel (Friel Films) will be the executive producer, alongside Anna Chazelle.

The film therefore explores the story of Medusa like never before, focusing on her rage and justifying it. Anna Chazelle spoke on this subject.

“It’s easy to demonize Medusa, but her story is filled with a justifiable female rage, both towards the gods who created her and the mortals who seek to destroy her…. I look forward to delving into the account of his birth in the Greek pantheon and hopefully questioning the widely accepted definition of Medusa as a mere monster. “

Armen Aghaeian, the vice-president of studios Fangoria, took the opportunity to give his point of view:

“Medusa is a global icon, yet her story has been overlooked for far too long…. Anna’s interpretation of Medusa, set against the backdrop of ancient Greece, will be an unforgettable cinematic journey. “

The character of Astonished has long undergone various interpretive changes, she is seen today more as a rebel rather than a real monster. Her rage towards the gods is justified and that towards mortals too, most often from a feminist angle.

Medusa, one of the three Gorgon sisters, could turn anyone to stone with her gaze. She was finally defeated by the demigod Perseus, who used his head as a weapon before offering it to the goddess Athena. Since then, the head of Medusa adorns the shield ofAthena.
