Preparations for the upcoming Indian Premier League season auction are proceeding at a brisk pace. There are two weeks left for the auction to be held in Kochi on December 23. Cricket’s Board of Control in India and the 10 franchises began preparing for the auction. The list of retained and released players was finalized prior to the auction and teams are now ready to purchase new players. Let us know some important things related to the auction.
All teams combined have retained a total of 163 players and a total of 87 players will now be purchased at the auction. Out of these 87 players, 30 will be foreigners and Rs 206.5 crore will be spent on the auction, including all franchises. The Sunrisers Hyderabad team will participate in the auction with the maximum amount of Rs 42.25 crore. Kolkata Knight Riders will have the lowest amount of Rs 7.05 crore.
A total of 991 players have registered for the auction. Out of these, 714 players are from India and 19 of them have played for India. Uncapped 91 players have also registered their names and have been a part of any IPL team before. 277 foreign players have also put their names up for auction and of these 166 players are the ones who have played international cricket. 20 players from Associated countries have also given their names for the auction. A maximum of 57 foreign players from Australia have registered, while 52 players from South Africa have also given their names.
