24 hours in Buenos Aires

This weekend the emblematic 24 hours of the City of Buenos Aires were completed, at the Oscar and Juan Gálvez Racetrack, with victory in the general classification of the Mercedes 230 driven by Carlos Giordano, Roque Stefanelli and Germán Sarricouet.

The competition consists of a test of resistance and controlled speed that recalls the long-term races of yesteryear, organized by the Association of Tourism Automobile Pilots (APAT).

The event began on Saturday with a parade of vintage cars and the race began at 2:00 p.m., which ended on Sunday at the same time after six sessions. The podium was completed by the Peugeot 205 of Leonardo Boutet and Luis Zerbini in second place and the Volvo 122S of Carlos Berisso and Gustavo Gallo in the third step.

This edition of the 24 hours of Buenos Aires had some organizational renovations: the competitors were grouped into two zones to give the participants a greater amount of time on the track (in addition to the usual eight categories) and the participation of co-drivers was optionally added . Meanwhile, simultaneously with the competition, the sculptures of the Gálvez brothers, which are exhibited in the “La Biela” bar, in Recoleta, were restored.
