Zelensky proposes to create a European anti-missile shield

Bulboaca (Moldova).- The Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelenski, proposed today at the summit of the European Political Community held in Moldova the creation of an anti-missile shield that protects, with modern airplanes and air defenses, the sky of the entire European continent.

“Our proposal to build an air shield, or an air defense shield, for the entire European continent is very important,” Zelenski declared at a press conference in the Moldovan town of Bulboaca, where the summit was held with the participation of the top leaders of the European Union (EU).

Zelensky suggested “starting with the Ukraine” to build this continental shield.

“We already know which systems work, unfortunately,” said the Ukrainian president, referring to the airstrikes his country faces every day, to which it responds with air defense systems sent by its Western allies.

During his speech before the media, Zelenski insisted on the need for his country to receive more Patriot anti-aircraft systems to protect the skies over their cities from attacks by drones and Russian missiles like the one that killed three people in Kiev last morning.

“We need a ‘coalition of Patriots,'” Zelensky said, referring to the group of Ukraine’s Western partners that could send the Kiev government more such anti-aircraft systems like it has already received from the United States, Germany and the Netherlands.

“We have many different systems from all our allies, but the Patriots are the Patriots,” added the Ukrainian president about the exceptional capabilities of this technology that has allowed Ukraine to shoot down Russian Kinzhal supersonic missiles to which until now it was vulnerable.

Zelensky also stressed the importance of protecting its skies from the F-16 fighter jets that Ukraine has been asking its allies for months.

“As long as we don’t have planes we will need more Patriots,” he concluded.
