YouTube CEO Hints at NFT Integration

The CEO of YouTube called Susan Wojcicki, explained in a letter that the company is considering the possibility of expanding YouTube’s offerings with NFTs.

A huge opportunity to grow the bond between YouTubers and fans

In a letter, Wojcicki stated that the platform was interested in expanding the YouTube ecosystem, indicating that this expansion could include things like NFTs.

It’s unclear in what form YouTube plans to add NFTs, but Wojcicki’s primary focus is to “help content creators take advantage of emerging technologies,” Bloomberg said.

In the letter, Wojcicki referred to Web3 as a source of inspiration for YouTube, drawing particular attention to DAOs. “The world of crypto, NFTs and even decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) has highlighted a huge opportunity to grow the bond between YouTubers and their fans,” wrote she.

The letter comes shortly after Twitter added NFTs to its platform last week. Twitter Blue users can now connect their accounts to OpenSea’s API to use verified NFTs from their personal collection.

Instagram has also already mentioned that it is actively investigating the integration of NFTs on the platform.

The NFT market continues to grow

While the broader crypto market has already lost more than $500 billion since the start of the year, the NFT market appears unaffected. On January 17, OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace in the world, reported another all-time high in monthly volume of $3.5 billion.

Celebrities like Tom Brady, Snoop Dog, Paris Hilton, Jimmy Fallon, Post Malone and many others are already entering the NFT world, either by launching their own NFT platform or by delving into the hottest NFT art.

And now that YouTube joins Instagram, Twitter and Meta, the market could grow even bigger.
