In an interview with BBC’s Pakistan Correspondent Caroline Davies, the PTI chairman said that since the May 9 violence, he is now monitoring the situation and following a ‘wait and see’ policy to see how the situation develops.

Imran Khan was asked in the interview, how will he run the team in the current situation? The former prime minister replied, ‘I will first appoint vacant positions in the party, and bring young leaders to the forefront. I fear that they (new leaders) will also be arrested. It may be that they will put me in jail too.’

Regarding PTI’s current situation, Imran Khan said, ‘If I lose vote-bank, my position will be weakened. Any political party is weakened when its vote-bank shrinks. You might think that this (current situation) is a big crisis for me, but I don’t think so. In fact we are facing martial law.’

He also said, ‘I wonder what they want to get out of this. Economic statistics are pointing to the worst (economic) condition of the country. I am interested to know what will be the benefit of the country if we are cancelled.
