BANGALORE: A 14-year-old student living in a hostel in India has committed suicide on the phone after being denied permission to wish his mother a happy birthday.
According to Indian media, the incident took place yesterday in Bangalore, Karnataka, where 14-year-old Puroj took drastic action when his mother was not allowed to wish him a happy birthday. When the classmates did not open the door in the morning, they called the warden who broke down the door and entered the room. The boy’s body was hanging from a trap.
Police say the young man repeatedly asked the hostel warden to wish his mother a happy birthday, but the warden refused to call. In addition, when the boy’s family tried to contact his son several times, the hostel management did not allow him to speak.
According to police, the young man was upset that he was not allowed to speak, at which point he committed suicide by trapping himself.
The student also wrote a note before committing suicide, in which the young man congratulated his mother on her birthday and said that mother will take care of you all.
Police have registered a case and started investigation.
