“YOU HAVE TO BE IN HIS PLACE”

One of the most important aspects of human relationships is the level of empathy that we can or should feel for others. According to the dictionary, “empathy it is the intention to understand feelings and emotions, trying to experience objectively and rationally what another individual feels. “

Professional athletes receive very little empathy around them. Being under intense pressure from the organization, the fans, the press, the family, makes them more prone and vulnerable to apathy, demands, expectations and nonconformity. Almost no one puts themselves in their place, unless they are close, they are suffering and feel, and they know their levels of dedication, sacrifice and discipline. You have to be in their place to understand how they are and where they are.

You have to be in their place to understand that behind their uniforms, their routines and their lifestyle are the same needs, insecurities, and vulnerabilities of a normal human being. You have to be in their place to know that the same mental, emotional, spiritual and physical battles that everyone goes through, they are doubled by the level of exposure of their profession. You have to be in their place to wait and not assume that they do not care, that they do not feel, that they do not care about giving up or complying. You have to be in their place so as not to give up, throw in the towel, and continue trying to be a good professional and at the same time a good mom or dad, husband or wife, son or daughter, brother or sister, friend or friend.

You have to be in their place to understand that it is not easy to manage life with so many burners on at such a young age. That it is not easy to be rejecting so many offers from inside and outside, attractive but dangerous, double-edged but misleading, that appear harmless but can destroy a life. You have to be in their place and not assume without knowing or knowing.

Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, Than great treasure where there is trouble. “

Proverbs 15:16 ESV
