Yerry Mina keeps Everton alive in the Premier League

Yerry Mina’s dramatic goal at Wolverhampton gave Everton a valuable point in their fight for survival in the English Premier League on Saturday.

The defender struck from close range in the ninth minute of second-half injury time to earn a 1-1 draw and give the Toffees hope after Hwang Hee-chan’s goal for Wolves in the first half.

Everton’s 69-year tenure in the top flight remains in doubt and Sean Dyche’s side could still find themselves in the relegation zone before the end of next week.

Leeds visit West Ham on Sunday before Leicester’s trip to Newcastle on Monday and a victory for both would elevate them above Everton.

As it is, Everton are two points above the bottom three ahead of Bournemouth’s visit next Sunday.

Everton struggled for long periods and again lost Dominic Calvert-Lewin to injury. Calvert-Lewin, who came off last week’s loss to Manchester City with a groin problem, limped off in first-half stoppage time.

It will generate a nervous Goodison Park, which saw its last relegation from the top flight in 1951.
