Shortly after the investiture ceremony, President Xiomara Castro met with the US vice president kamala harris (photo) to talk about migration, the fight against drug trafficking and corruption. Castro thanked Harris for his “disposition of the United States to support our government on priority issues for our people.”
In a note distributed by Harris’ office, they highlighted President Castro’s “focus on the fight against corruption and impunity, including her intention to request the assistance of the United Nations to establish an international commission against corruption.”
Before her trip to Tegucigalpa, the US vice president uploaded a photo of a meeting with the head of the State Department, Antony Blinken, and stated that she was preparing for her trip to the Honduran capital. “This visit is an opportunity for our two nations to deepen our cooperation on key issues, from fighting corruption to economic recovery”Harris wrote.
