Xiaomi presents the smartphone POCO X5 Pro and POCO X5

TO xiaomi has just launched a new range of quality/price smartphones through its sub-brand PIT. Do it with the new cell phones LITTLE X5 Pro and the base model, the POCOX5, both with outstanding features and affordable price.

We have a high screen refresh rate, (very) fast charging battery and even a 108 MP camera in the Pro model. However, the high-end performance is still reserved for its POCO F line smartphones, the true flagships.

Xiaomi POCO X5 Pro arrives with Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G

First of all, the model that is now becoming known is the direct successor to the POCO X4 Pro launched about a year ago.

There are improvements to the build quality, now with a slimmer profile for easier one-handed use, just 7.9mm thick across the body, with flat edges for greater comfort.

Secondly, as the main improvement we have the new processor of this mobile, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, with 6 nm lithography, manufactured by TSMC. It is accompanied by an Adreno 642L graphics card for excellent graphics and great performance in gaming scenarios.

Thus, compared to the Snadpragon 695 that equipped the previous model -POCO X4 Pro- we effectively have a quantum leap in the phone’s performance.

Up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage in the POCO X5 Pro

On the other hand, this year Xiaomi has chosen to also increase the base value of the phone’s internal storage, starting from 128 GB and reaching 256 GB. We also have 6 GB of RAM, a value that can reach 8 GB.

We have LPDDR4X and UFS 2.2 RAM here, not being the fastest industry standards. However, we also have up to 1TB of memory expansion if you use a micro SD card.

In the two phones launched we now also have the MIUI 14 interface for POCO, based on Google’s Android 12 operating system, not being the most recent version of the system.

Third, among the features shared with the base version is the screen, which is also better in this generation. It is a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with Full-HD+ resolution and a high refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

Sampling rate is 240 Hz, with 10-bit depth color reproduction for full coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, Pro model only. Plus, it achieves a maximum brightness of 900 nits peak, on the Pro model only. Pro, compared to the 700 of the previous generation. This is the only point where the base version outperforms the Pro model, reaching 1,200 nits of maximum brightness here.

Protection, on the other hand, continues to be provided by Gorilla Glass 5 whose durability tests we already know, but only in the Pro model. In the base version, POCO X5, the glass used is Gorilla Glass 3, less robust.

108 MP camera in POCO X5 Pro

The camera system is the same as the previous generation. We have a 108 MP 1/1.52” main sensor, with an 8 MP auxiliary sensor and an ultra-wide angle lens, in addition to the third camera with 2 MP and a macro lens.

On the front we also find a 16 MP wide-angle camera for selfies. There are, however, improvements in the capabilities of these cameras thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G processor, more capable in image processing.

Proof of this is the possibility of recording video up to 4K on this smartphone, something that was previously impossible. We also have faster image processing and content capture at night.

Finally, this processor also supports Wi-Fi 6 (ax), in addition to Bluetooth 5.2. We also have the 3.5 mm jack audio port, IR and NFC port, in addition to the USB Type-C port.

Without forgetting the 5,000 mAh capacity battery with 67 W fast charging and of course the included charger.

Its screen is all the same, with the difference in the type of protective glass, 8-bit colors and a higher maximum brightness value of up to 1200 nits. On the other hand, its camera is 48 MP, aided by one of 8 MP and another of 2 MP (ultra wide angle and macro).

Finally, its front camera is 13 MP, with the same 5,000 mAh battery, but with slower charging, here at 33 W.
