Xavi Simons’ Uncertain Future

Xavi Simons' future is still up in the air

As summer arrives, so does the transfer market, especially in years with major international tournaments. The highly sought-after Xavi Simons is once again at the center of transfer rumors. The 21-year-old Dutch footballer, currently owned by PSG, is one of the top young talents in European football.

He has spent this season on loan at RB Leipzig, where he has impressed with eight goals and 11 assists in 32 games. As a result, a growing number of clubs are vying for his services. Simons’ entourage had hoped to finalize his future before the Euro Cup, but it seems that decision will have to wait until after the tournament.

In a recent statement, Simons said, “My future? We’ll see after the Euro Cup. I was happy in Paris. I was in Leipzig this year and after the tournament, we’ll see.”

Paris Saint-Germain acquired Simons in 2019 from Barcelona’s youth academy for free. However, the player has only played seven games with the Parisian shirt and has been involved in a series of transfers since 2022 that have hindered his continuity.

One of the teams that wants Simons as a key player is Bayern Munich. With the arrival of Vincent Kompany as their new coach, the Bavarians are looking to revamp their squad. Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, recently spoke about their transfer plans, stating, “We need stars, but also young and hungry talent.”
