  • Change of venue for the final of the World Test Championship
  • This year’s final will be played at The Oval’s Cricket Ground
  • India lost to New Zealand in the final last year

End of the World Trade Center: The venue for the 2023 World Test Championship Final has been changed. The historic Oval Cricket Ground has played host to the upcoming World Test Championship Final. The ICC believes that the environment at the Oval Cricket Ground will be suitable for hosting the final. However, it is not yet clear which two teams will meet in the final. But if you look at the World Test Championship points table so far, the chances of Australia reaching the final look high.

What did the head of the ICC say?

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardyce said: “We are delighted that next year’s ICC World Trials Championship Final will be held at The Oval, the Oval has a long and wonderful history.”

The ICC chief also said that “the 2025 World Test Championship final will be played at Lord’s, making it the first time the WTC final has been played at the historic Lord’s ground.” The 2021 WTC Final was moved from Lord’s to Southampton due to Covid-19. Because the hotel is within the Southampton grounds, the 2021 final was staged there.

The ICC boss further said that “last year’s final was played between New Zealand and India in Southampton and I am sure fans around the world will be looking forward to the upcoming WTC final at the Oval. From the ICC, I would like to thank the England and Wales Cricket Board, Surrey County Cricket Club and Marylebone Cricket Club for their support.”
