WPL 2024: Mumbai Indians beat RCB women’s team by 7 wickets to reach top of points table

In the second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), the defending champions Mumbai Indians registered a big win by 7 wickets in the match against the women’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore, showing excellent performances with the ball and bat. In this game, Mumbai Indians once again played without their captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Bowling first, Mumbai Indians restricted the RCB women’s team to a score of just 131. They then chased down the target in just 15.1 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. With this win, the Mumbai team has once again reached the top spot in the points table.

However, by the time the score reached 69, the Mumbai team had lost both players. From here, Amelia Kerr began to bat aggressively as she led the innings from one end, scoring an unbeaten innings of 40 runs in just 24 balls, including 7 fours. Due to this innings from Amelia, the Mumbai Indians team won the game in just 15.1 overs and registered their third win of the season. Bowling for RCB, Sophie Devine, Shreyanka Patil and Georgia Wareham took the wicket at 1-1.

If we talk about RCB women’s team’s innings in this match, apart from Ellyse Perry, no other player could contribute more with the bat. Captain Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine could only score 9 runs each. While Perry played an important role in helping the team to a fighting result in this game with an innings of 44 runs. In this game for Mumbai Indians, Natalie Siver Brunt and Pooja Vastrakar took 2-2 wickets with the ball while Izzy Wong and Saika Ishaq also managed to take 1-1 wickets.
