The 7th match of the second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) was played between the women’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore and the women’s team Delhi Capitals. In this match, the Delhi Capitals team, batting first, scored 194 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs with a brilliant innings of 50 runs scored with the bat of Shefali Verma. In pursuit of the target, the Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team managed to score just 169 runs while losing 9 wickets. With this win, the Delhi Capitals team has now moved straight from third place to first place in the points table.

With the score at 112, the second and biggest blow for the RCB women’s team came in the form of captain Mandhana, who returned to the pavilion after 74 innings off 43 balls. From here the team started losing wickets at regular intervals and by the time the score was 150, 4 players had returned to the pavilion. The pressure to chase the target quickly was clearly visible among the players of the RCB women’s team and due to this, the process of the team’s wickets falling did not stop. RCB managed to score only 169 runs in 20 overs and suffered a huge defeat by 25 runs. In this game for Delhi Capitals, Jess Jonassen took three wickets with the ball while Marijane Kapp and Arundhati Reddy took two wickets each while Shikha Pandey also took one wicket to her credit.
