World champion Jorge Olguín presents his biography in Buenos Aires

“Olguín, a story to tell”, the book that reviews the career of the former defender, world champion in 1978, will be presented in the Federal Capital on June 25. The event will have two appointments: first it will be in the Bar San Lorenzo, located at Av. La Plata and Avelina Díaz, in the Boedo neighborhood, at 10:30 am. And in the afternoon, it will be repeated in the Historic House/Maradona, located in Lascano 2257, La Paternal, from 18.

The work was released last March, in the city of Dolores, birthplace of Olguín, and later it was also held in Mar del Plata, where it was declared of “Municipal Interest” by the deliberative Council of the spa town.

Journalist Ezequiel Suárez wrote the play, and there you can see a thorough review of the remarkable former defender’s career, illustrated by testimonials from teammates, rivals and coaches.

The ’78 World Cup, the Argentine National Team, San Lorenzo, Independent, Argentinian Juniors and, of course, his beginnings in Alvarado de Mar del Plata, the club from which he was projected to San Lorenzo de Almagro to begin his journey in the big football.

“When Jorge returned to Dolores in 2008, 30 years after his consecration in the 1978 World Cup, we struck up a friendship. And in 2017, in a talk, the idea came out. He accepted, he was interested, but he did not have many illusions. Several had already promised him the same. But I am my word, I followed it and today the book is finished, ”explained Suárez, a reporter in that city and who covered the World Cups in Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018.

The prologue was written by the late Leopoldo Jacinto Luque, one of his teammates in the 1978 World Cup, and the focus on his beginnings in Mar del Plata has a very important place. “Jorge’s family moved to Mar del Plata when he was just four years old. He first played in La Esperanza, the neighborhood club that his father directed. Thanks to the testimonies of his colleagues Julio Zibecchi and Carlos Cubero, the stage of the baby in the Sports Floor is reconstructed, how Vicente Faienza discovered him, and how he made his debut in the first Alvarado at just 14 years old. His first match was in 1967 against Aldosivi, but it was not yet classic”, points out Suárez.

Among the many soccer people who committed their presence will be the presentation by the journalist and councilor from Mar del Plata Vito Amalfitan, Who will act as presenter?
