The Asian Women’s Cup has started from today. In the first match hosts Bangladesh defeated Thailand by 9 wickets, while in the second match the teams of India and Sri Lanka (India Women vs Sri Lanka Women) go head to head. Batting first here, India set Sri Lanka a 151-run target, thanks to Jemimah Rodrigues’ scintillating half-century.

India got off to a bad start in this match which was played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. In the total of 23 runs, the Indian team had lost the wickets of their two starters. Shefali Verma (10) and Smriti Mandhana (6) returned to the arena cheaply. From here, Jemima Rodriguez shared a 92-race partnership with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (33). Following Harmanpreet’s dismissal, Jemima along with Dayalan Hemlata (13*) stretched out the innings for a while and was then fired for 76. Jemima played this unmatched 76-run inning on just 53 balls. Following her dismissal, the Indian inning was reduced to 150 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. For Sri Lanka, Osadi Ramasinghe took 3 wickets and Sugandhaika and Chamari Atapattu took 1-1 wickets.

A total of seven teams are participating in the Women’s Asian Cup. There are teams from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. In the first round, all teams will play a match against each other. That is, all teams will have the opportunity to play 6-6 games. After this, out of these seven teams, the top 4 teams will make it to the semi-finals.
