Microsoft has released an important, optional update for Windows 10 22H2 with KB5034843 (here you can find the English-language Microsoft support document). KB5034843 is currently still a preview and is therefore not yet automatically installed on Windows 10 computers. But the preview already reveals what exciting new functions the old but still leading Windows 10 (which is installed on significantly more computers than Windows 11) will still have in 2024 – Microsoft is probably gritting its teeth on this.

These are the innovations
Probably the most exciting innovation is the ability to use “Windows Share” to share web links/URLs directly from Windows 10 with platforms such as Whatsapp, Gmail, Facebook and Linkedin. X/Twitter will soon also support “Windows Share”.
The Windows Backup app now only displays Windows in countries that support this feature. There is also a change to how games are installed.
Series of bug fixes
The update KB5034843 also fixes a number of problems in Windows 10. For example, in connection with the Azure Virtual Desktop or with Windows Hello for Business. There are further minor bug fixes in Microsoft Edge and Remote Desktop Web Authentication.
How to install KB5034843
You can find the download of KB5034843 here in the Microsoft Update Catalog. Depending on the processor, the download is between 444 and 830 MB. Alternatively, you can also search for KB5034843 in the update section of Windows 10’s settings and then have the update installed manually.
But you can also simply wait until the next Microsoft patch day on March 12, 2024. Then KB5034843 should be automatically delivered to all Windows 10 computers by default.
Microsoft continues to bring new features for Windows 10
Since Windows 10 still has the largest market share of all operating systems and many users refuse to switch to Windows 11, Microsoft probably grudgingly decided some time ago to provide new functions for Windows 10 as well. You can read more about this in these reports:
