Will provide free wheat to needy countries, Russia announced

The suspension of grain contracts after the Russia-Ukraine war has led to fears of a food crisis in many countries, which is being directly blamed on Russia.

In the last two days, many Western countries have heaped accusations on Russia after the suspension of the grain export agreement with Ukraine.

In this regard, the Russian official has announced yesterday that Russia is ready to help countries in need by providing them with wheat.

The permanent representative of Russia in Vienna, Mikhail Ilianov, has said in his message on the social networking site Twitter that his country is ready to provide 5 lakh tons of grain. He further said in his message that this amount of grain will be delivered free of cost to the needy countries.

Food safety issue

Western countries criticized Moscow for suspending the implementation of the grain export agreement with Ukraine and accused Russia of exacerbating the problem of food security globally, especially for African and other developing countries.

These are the countries that have been most affected after the Russian military operation in Ukraine on February 24. In these countries, the prices of grains, especially wheat, have increased sharply.

Russian President Putin has demanded from Kyiv that the grain export corridor ensure the safety of ships passing through the Black Sea.

Moscow’s warning

On the other hand, despite the Russian decision, with the support of the United Nations and Turkey, the movement of ships in the Black Sea has resumed yesterday.

In this regard, Moscow has warned these countries that it will be dangerous for them to continue the implementation of the agreement without the participation of Russia.
