The reason behind star cricketers Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan opting out of BCCI’s central contract has come to light. According to the ESPN Cricinfo report, the selectors were upset because Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer did not give importance to domestic cricket. The selectors had no doubt about the abilities of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, but the attitude of these two players became the reason for their exclusion from the central contract.
Ishan Kishan has kept his distance from the cricket field since the series against South Africa. Ishan Kishan was given the condition of playing Ranji matches to return to the Test team. But Ishan Kishan did not accept this condition. Shreyas Iyer also followed the path of Ishan Kishan. Shreyas Iyer was ruled out after the second Test against England. Shreyas Iyer excused himself due to injury for not taking part in the Ranji Trophy. However, the NCA stated that Iyer was suitable for the match.
Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Jai Shah continuously directed players who were not on national duty to play Ranji matches. The ESPN Cricinfo report said, “Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer’s method was not right.” Ishan Kishan chose to train with Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya in the IPL while Shreyas Iyer opted out after his exit the team became part of the Kolkata Knight Riders training camp. Both players have not made themselves available for the Ranji Trophy.”

The report goes on to say: “Voters have no doubt about his abilities.” NCA declares him fit. However, they declare themselves not available for the test series. How can you be offered a BCCI contract?”
However, not all roads are closed for these two players. If Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan manage to perform well in the IPL, they can return to the list of players with central contracts.
