Odisha: A man in India killed his wife because their child was black.
According to Indian media, a man Manak Ghosh killed his wife in the state of Odisha (formerly Orissa), he used to beat his wife because the child was black.
The police on Saturday registered a case of murder against Manik Ghosh on the complaint of his father-in-law and arrested him.
The incident of murder came to light when the two-and-a-half-year-old daughter of the deceased told her maternal grandfather about her mother’s strangulation in gestures, upon which maternal grandfather Tapan Mandal filed a complaint with the child at the Umarkot police station.
As the accused and his wife lived in Kakinada area of ​​Andhra Pradesh where the incident took place, the police also reported it to the Andhra Pradesh Police.
According to the police report, Manak Ghosh, a resident of Umarkot, was married to Lipika Mandal seven years ago, who after marriage moved to Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh for employment.
When the daughter Mahi was born, the accused Manak started beating his wife Lipika due to her black complexion, due to which Lipika went to her maternal uncle’s house, but the in-laws persuaded her again.
According to the report, on September 18, the accused attacked his wife and seriously injured her, and then with the help of friends, she was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but the doctors declared Lipika dead, although bite marks were found on the deceased’s neck. The hospital staff informed the Kakinada police, who registered a case and started an investigation.
On the other hand, after the post-mortem, when Lipika was cremated, her parents brought her daughter with them to Karagaon, but the girl told her maternal grandfather, Tapan Mandal, how her mother had died.
