Who was Captain Abdullah al-Qarni, the remains of a missing Saudi soldier three decades ago?

Riyadh: The remains of Saudi soldier Abdullah al-Qarni, who was captured and killed by Iraqi forces during Operation Desert Storm, have been found by his family.

According to the details, Captain Abdullah al-Qarni was also part of Operation Desert Storm, which began in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia and Riyadh after the Iraqi army captured the Kuwaiti capital almost three decades ago, during which he was arrested by Iraqi forces and imprisoned in Iraq. I was the one who ambushed death.

The remains of the Saudi soldier were returned to the kingdom and handed over to his family, who were later buried in his presence. The events leading up to Captain Abdullah’s martyrdom began on August 2, 1990, when Iraqi forces captured Kuwait City within hours of a surprise attack.

The occupation lasted for about seven months, after which the United States, Arab countries and more than 40 other countries launched Operation Desert Storm to end the Iraqi occupation and push them back.

As of January 17, 1991, more than 600,000 Allied ground, naval, and air forces had joined the operation, killing more than 35,000 people and inflicting heavy casualties on Iraqi forces.

Capt. Abdullah al-Qarni’s arrest has not been reported. In a way, he went missing. It was later confirmed that he was in an Iraqi prison and apparently died a decade later, but no details are available. Made every effort to bring back the remains.

Eventually, Iraqi authorities handed over the remains of the Saudi soldier to Saudi Arabia and then buried him.
