Who is the vice-captain of Team India? Why didn’t Iyer get a spot, which marked a century on his debut?

India’s best fast shooter Jasprit Bumrah was named vice-captain for the second round against South Africa on Monday. In the absence of the injured captain Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul assumed the responsibility of the captaincy. According to the statement from the Cricket Board of India (BCCI), regular captain Kohli is not playing in this match due to a stiff upper back. Aside from this, middle order hitter Shreyas Iyer has also been ruled out of the game due to an upset stomach.

The BCCI said in a statement: “The All India Senior Selection Committee has appointed Jasprit Bumrah as the vice-captain for the second round. Team India hitter Shreyas Iyer has also been ruled out of the career of selection for the second test due to a stomach ache that was century and a half.

Bumrah has also been named vice-captain of India for the ODI series against South Africa as of January 19. Regarding Kohli, the BCCI said this superstar hitter was concerned about stiffness in his upper back this morning. BCCI said: “He will not play in the second Test against South Africa at The Wanderers.” The BCCI medical team will take care of him during the Test match.

Kohli, who has failed to score a century for more than two years, will not be able to complete his testing century in the final test of the ongoing series in Cape Town. Kohli, 33, will play in the ODI series against South Africa. Rahul will lead Team India in that series as new limited overs captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out due to injury.
