In the final of the Women’s Premier League 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore did what the RCB team has failed to do in the IPL 2024 in the last 16 years. In the first bowling, Sophie Moulineau shocked the Delhi Capitals team by taking three wickets in a single over while Shreyanka Patil broke the back of Delhi’s batting by taking four wickets. On behalf of RCB, captain Smriti Mandhana, Sophie Devin and Ellyse Parry also contributed significantly to the team becoming champions through very brilliant innings. The winning shot of the match came from the bat of Richa Ghosh where she officially made the RCB franchise champions for the first time by hitting a four. RCB fans on social media are happy with this win.
Last season, RCB couldn’t even reach the playoffs, but this time the team came together. Under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana, the team overcame the challenges of the league phase. After registering victory in the Eliminator, it gained the honor of lifting the trophy for the first time by defeating Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets in the final. Ellis Perry in particular fought very well in the 2024 WPL season. He scored 347 runs throughout the tournament, which was the highest in the second WPL season.
