EITHER WhatsApp continues to develop new features for its messaging app and we already know what the next new features will be for the app for Android and iOS. In particular, the platform’s focus in recent weeks has been its Condition or States.
At the same time, we will also have new features for businesses that use WhatsApp to communicate with their customers, allowing them to place a new featured image. This is a flag to easily identify your business activity.
There are new functions for States and for companies in WhatsApp
The news was advanced by the publication WABetaInfopublication always attentive to the versions beta of the messaging application for Android and iOS. Thus, first of all, it will be possible for business profile managers to place a cover image.
That way, other users will immediately know that this contact represents a company, for example. Keep in mind, however, that this feature is still under development, as the WABetaInfo portal itself warns.
Above you can see the option, still in development, that will allow business profile managers to take advantage of the new feature. It will be, above all, a new customization function that will debut, apparently, in WhatsApp Desktop.
Note that the publication classifies this functionality as “under development”, without setting a date for its implementation in the stable channel of this communications platform. This feature is currently only available on the iOS version.
More stories, more engagement, new status response options
The post also states that WhatsApp has started testing a new icon that seeks to distinguish a common conversation/message from a Status response within a conversation. So, just like on Instagram where we can respond to the Stories of each person/page, we can also do it on WhatsApp more easily.
The new icon should visually signal that a certain message received on the platform is a response to the status posted by the user. Thus, we will know the nature, or the reason, of the message that has just reached us on this platform.
As we can see in the image above, next to the message preview we now have a new icon, just below the contact’s name. This is a small change, the introduction of a new element. However, it can help the user to know and understand why they have received a certain message.
It should also be noted that this novelty was detected in the version beta WhatsApp for Desktop, that is, for computers. However, it is likely that this same feature is also available in the beta of the platform for Android and iOS mobile devices.
Finally, this resource was also classified as “under development”, due to its unfinished nature. Likewise, no date was given for its implementation and availability through the stable channel of this free messaging platform.
