It’s been over a year since Grand Theft Auto VI was announced, but there’s been no update or trailer since. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, revealed that this is all part of the plan.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Zelnick explained that the anticipation for the game is huge. “It’s probably the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for any form of entertainment,” he said. The company wants to keep the excitement and anticipation building.
Zelnick also mentioned that some competitors announce release dates years in advance, but Take-Two prefers to focus on heavy marketing close to the release date. “We find that the better approach is to release marketing materials closer to the launch to build excitement,” he said. “At the same time, we need to balance excitement with unmet expectations.”
