“We won 2 Asian Cups during my tenure, nobody remembers…” Ravi Shastri on Dravid

For the past 16 months, Rahul Dravid has worked as the head coach of the Indian team. Dravid’s training has been nothing special for the India team so far. During his tenure, the team has lost major tournaments such as the Asian Cup and the T20 World Cup. Apart from this, the team was also beaten in Test and ODI against South Africa. Now, the former Indian coach Ravi Shastri spoke about the training of Rahul Dravid. While he was speaking, he said that during my tenure we won two Asian Cups, no one remembers.

Responding to the question about Rahul Dravid’s training on ‘Sports Tak’, Ravi Shastri said, “Lagta hai time. I also took time, but Rahul Dravid has the advantage that he was also in NCA, where he was with the A team and now he is here. He has a lot of experience with the players and the system, but give him time.”

Rahul Dravid’s contract is only until this World Cup. However, his contract is expected to go ahead. On this, Shastri said: “Look, public memory is very short in our country. If you want to win, then you have to win. We won two Asian Cups during our tenure, but no one remembers it. Has anyone talked about the Asia Cup? We have won twice, but no one talks about it. But when we lose the Asia Cup, then the Asia Cup. That’s why I say you have to make efforts.

Taking his point further, Ravi Shastri said: “Everybody wants to win, but it’s important to do your best and see what happens. Sometimes you don’t give your best and still win, but you have to be very lucky to win the World Cup. Very few teams have won the World Cup even after not playing well.
