Wanting to blacklist Pakistan, India itself came on the radar of FATF

Wanting to blacklist Pakistan, India itself has come under the radar of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

FATF last reviewed India’s performance in June 2010, India’s performance review has been postponed twice since 2019.

According to the plan, the FATF will start reviewing India’s measures to combat terrorist financing and money laundering this year. An on-site review of India’s actions will take place in November 2023. Indian actions are likely to be discussed in the June meeting next year.

Apart from India, the FATF will also examine the actions of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Argentina.

Pakistan’s name is not included in FATF’s review list this time. Last year, Pakistan crossed a milestone at the global level. In October 2022, FATF removed Pakistan’s name from the gray list. A year and 4 months later, Pakistan’s name was removed from the gray list.
