Vodafone Analytics shows Rock in Rio under magnifying glass

Vodafone Anaylitics, which allows you to analyze data in almost real time, was premiered by the operator in this year’s edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa. And the results revealed by the operator allow to show the festival under the magnifying glass.

This technological tool, developed by Vodafone in collaboration with Celfocus, made it possible to interpret, using advanced computer techniques, the big data generated by the data collected from the Vodafone antennas that cover the site.

In this way, it was possible to identify patterns of mobility behavior (through a heat map with the areas of greatest concentration), location and demographic characterization. And several conclusions were drawn.

12% of Rock in Rio’s audience was under 25 years old

For example, on average, 23% of people repeated the experience, being present for more than one day. In the four days of Rock in Rio, 12% of the audience was, on average, under 25 years old.

Most of the national visitors came from the cities of Lisbon and Porto, with around 5% of the public coming from other countries. Spain was the predominant country for foreign attendees at the event, followed by Brazil and the United Kingdom.

The data, treated in an aggregated and anonymized way – complying with the rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (RGPD) and all the regulations of the National Data Protection Commission.

“The versatility and dynamism of this solution allow us to access data that was previously difficult to obtain and work with it as needed, to draw the most relevant conclusions and, through them, develop innovative solutions and services”, says Henrique Fonseca , administrator of the Corporate Business Unit of Vodafone Portugal.
