vivo has officially stepped into the mixed reality world. Their new Vision Explorer Edition headset just launched in China. It aims to offer comfort and a slim design.
This headset is quite light, weighing only 398 grams. It’s also compact, measuring 83mm tall and 40mm thick. The front features a visor packed with cameras and sensors. Users can swap between four light shields for different experiences. There are also two types of head straps. One focuses on comfort, and the other on a secure fit.
Its overall look might remind some people of Apple’s Vision Pro.
Inside, two display panels create a binocular view. Each screen boasts a sharp 3840 x 3552 pixel resolution. They also offer vibrant colors, covering 94% of the DCI-P3 standard. Plus, users can adjust for vision needs with removable magnetic diopter lenses.
vivo says these screens make you feel like you’re watching on a massive 120-inch display. The view stretches 180 degrees around you. Hand gesture tracking and eye movement sensors are built-in. This means you can control features quickly without needing extra devices. The headset also supports spatial surround sound. This makes content watching feel even more real.
Powering all this is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip. This chip is made for VR, AR, and MR devices. The headset runs on vivo’s own OriginOS Vision software. A special Blue Ocean power system helps the battery last longer. It shows the outside world in full color with very little delay, just 13 milliseconds. You can also play spatial videos. For gamers, it supports both mixed reality and PC-connected virtual reality titles.
The Vision Explorer Edition will go on sale in China soon. Look for it starting August 22, 2025. vivo will share more details about its price closer to that date.
