Vitelio Mejía values ​​Baseball Federation holding tournaments for children 5-6 years old

Mr. Vitelio Mejía, president of the Dominican Baseball League, appreciated the effort made by the Baseball Federation in its intentions to train children between the ages of 5-6 from an early age with the opening of their children’s tournaments.

After delivering the central speech at the start of the third baseball tournament in the U6 category, which is dedicated in his honor, Mejía called on the parents of the infants to protect them and guide them on the best path, because in them will rest the educational and sporting future of this society.

“It is difficult to address children of that age and in this sense my message goes directly to their tutors, since they are responsible for ensuring what benefits their future and career, choosing the best paths that lead them to success, even if they it takes much longer to get to these,” Vitellio said during the opening of the third U6 baseball tournament that Fedom celebrates every year in the category called Frank Camilo.

“These children must be given the necessary protection so that they have an educational and exemplary childhood”, he added during the contest in which 18 teams belonging to several of the country’s provinces participate.

Núñez: The objective is to sow baseball throughout the country

While Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, president of Fedom, maintained that from the entity that presides the desire is to sow baseball throughout the country, that from a young age these children feel the love for their beautiful sport and for the country.

“From now on we want to connect children, who are the future of baseball in the country, we should be proud of what we have, the main professional baseball championship in the entire area,” said Núñez.

During the beginning, Herny González, representative of Major League Baseball in the country, also spoke, who valued the celebration of these contests and the fact that at this age, 5 and 6 years old, infants begin to have the knowledge about how to drive baseball.

The start of the event was attended by the mascots of the winter ball teams Tigres del Licey, Aguilas Cibaeñas, Estrellas Orientales and Leones del Escogido.

Opening ceremony

During the event, Vitelio launched the first ball, Frank Camilo served as honor batter and González was the catcher. In the end, the directors of the Executive Committee of Fedom delivered a plaque of recognition to Mejía.

Among the attendees was Diógenes De la Cruz, who represented the National Baseball Commissioner, Junior Noboa, Erick Then, Secretary General of Fedom, Eligna Rodríguez, Secretary for Women of the entity and Frank Camilo, who in his honor this category from U6.

Moca and Duarte advance

The Moca and Provincia Duarte 2 teams advanced to the finals after coming out unscathed in their first two challenges in which they performed.

A third team that would go to the semifinals would be that of Higuey and the Girasoles, who played a tiebreaker. 18 teams participate in the event.
