VIDEO. Afghanistan: the Taliban accelerate the withdrawal of drug addicts

In Afghanistan, the Taliban intend to redress drug addicts in a country where they represent 10% of the population. And their methods are harsh.

In the streets of Kabul (Afghanistan), the Taliban literally pick up drug addicts and forcibly intern them in centers where weaning is done almost without support. Yet they are the poorest in Kabul, often living and dying under bridges next to sewers. Drugs largely funded the Taliban’s war effort for more than two decades, but now fundamentalists are dislodging drug addicts.

The Taliban decided that this was all over. They come to dislodge them by the dozen to take them by force to detoxification centers. The men become frail and ghostly, they are destroyed by drugs. The Taliban took over quickly, they will give them a new outfit, wash and shave them and wean them for 45 days.
