Van Dijk sets a new hour record: 49.254 km

the dutch Ellen Van Dijk, 35, has set a new hour record with 49.254 km at the Grenchen Velodrome (Switzerland)which exceeds the previous mark that belonged to the British Joscelin Lowden with 48.405 km achieved on September 30, 2021.

Van Dijk (Harmelen, 35 years old) smashed the previous record in a technical and strength demonstration on the Swiss trackrolling with perfect regularity in an aerodynamic position from start to finish.

The Trek Segafredo runner, who was “very happy to beat a very difficult record” and that was a goal after many years of a successful professional career, has been two times individual and four times team time trial world champion. On track, she was world scratch champion in 2008.

Van Dijk won the rainbow time trial jersey last September in Bruges (Belgium)eight years after his first title, at an average of 50.3 km/h in the 30.3 flat kilometers of the route. He also has great classics in his record, such as the Tour of Flanderswhich was awarded in 2014.
