The High Authority for Health (HAS) recommends a third dose of vaccine against Covid-19 for people 65 years of age and over and those at risk of serious forms.
In a notice published this Tuesday, August 24, the authority specifies that this booster dose “must be administered after a period of at least 6 months following the complete primary vaccination”.
The HAS also explains that it wishes to “simplify the vaccination course” for the people concerned. To do this, she proposes to “carry out the concomitant administration of the vaccines against Covid-19 and against seasonal flu” from the end of October.
And this, “as soon as a person is eligible for both vaccinations, most of the priority populations for influenza vaccination also presenting risks of serious forms of Covid-19”, and subject to “the absence of immune interference significant between the two types of vaccines in the studies in progress ”, it is specified.

The Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced this Monday, August 24, an upcoming vaccination booster campaign for this public, while saying to wait for a confirmation from the HAS. The HAS “will probably tell us to make this 3rd injection in all people aged 65 and over, who are traditionally called upon to be vaccinated against the flu,” he said.
Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 47,620,552 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 70.6% of the total population) and 41,637,794 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 61.8% of the total population).
