US soldier accused of leaking secret documents will plead guilty

Jack Teixeira, the American soldier arrested in 2023 in a notorious case of leaking secret Pentagon documents, particularly on the war in Ukraine, will plead guilty, which could mean decades in prisonaccording to court documents released Thursday.

According to federal prosecutors’ briefs, 22-year-old Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts Air National Guard recruit at the time of his arrest, was expected to plead guilty at a hearing next Monday.

Texeira will change his previous plea to not guiltyafter he was indicted by a Boston-based federal grand jury on six counts of “willfully storing and transmitting classified information relating to national defense,” each punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
