The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the National Council for Private Enterprise (Conep) are developing a joint work to support and promote companies towards sustainable developmentas part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 agenda.

The executive vice president of Conep, Dargam, recalled that two presentations have been made, one in 2020 and another in 2021, and stressed that the figures speak for themselves, since in the first catalog of promising practices saw 38 initiatives and in the second year 45 and MSMEs were included. For this year they hope to get more involved.

There are 17 SDGs, starting with the end of poverty, zero hunger, health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and non-polluting energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure. .

Likewise, sustainable cities and communities, responsible production and consumption, climate action, underwater life, life of terrestrial ecosystems, peace, justice and solid institutions and alliances to achieve the objectives.

Dargam explained that in case of success, more than one SDG can be combined, as part of the 2030 agenda of leaving no one behind. He maintained that several gender and inclusion initiatives have been awarded.

Mattila added that From the call, a jury selects the promising practice with standards, criteria bases and state-of-the-art methodology worldwide, on four main axes: business strategy, several SDGs, the management approach, and values ​​transparency and governance.

Another example is in recycling. In the first catalog, 28 companies presented 38 initiatives and 15 were recognized, while in the second catalog 45 initiatives from 36 companies were presented and 17 were recognized.

Last year, an award-winning MSME was dedicated to cleaning vehicles. In the second catalog, the first awards went to decent work, followed by energy, water, gender, and others.

Success stories catalog
In its second edition, the catalog of successes shows the evaluation criteria, the awarded companies. The 17 initiatives recognized and included in the 2021 edition were selected from a total of 45 initiatives from 40 organizations.

The objectives are: Register business practices with tangible results in support of the implementation of the SDGs, Make the private sector an active part of the solution so as not to leave anyone behind. and encourage other companies to initiate or accelerate management practices and actions that measure long-term impacts.

In addition, generate reliable, credible and replicable information that helps informed decision-making to optimize contributions to achieve the SDGs.
