Ukrainian army retreats: Russia captures another city

یوکرین

Kyiv: The war between Russia and Ukraine over the past several weeks has seen significant progress, with the Russian military achieving great success in the war.

Ukrainian troops have been ordered to leave Severodonsk, the administrative center of Kiev-controlled Luhansk region, Sergei Gidai, head of the Kyiv-administered Luhansk regional administration, said in a live broadcast on a Ukrainian local TV channel.

Gidai answered the question, “Will the Ukrainian side have to leave Severodonsk?” In response, Gidai said, “Unfortunately, our forces will have to leave the area now.”

He added that a decision had been made that troops from both the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard had already been ordered to retreat to new positions, new fortified areas.

He explained that the point was that it was pointless to keep the siege, which had been broken for months, just to hold on to it.

Militia fighters from the Luhansk People’s Republic have been attacking Severodonsk and Lysichansk since early March, and control of those cities is a top priority for the Luhansk Republic.

The liberation of cities has been complicated by the fact that the Ukrainian army has established a multi-pronged defense system there and is using civilians as human shields.
