Ukraine has applied for NATO membership

Kyiv: Ukraine has formally applied to join the NATO military alliance and has made it clear that it cannot negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to foreign media, this initiative on behalf of Ukraine has come after the annexation of four of its regions to Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky released a video statement.

“We have already met the alliance’s criteria for NATO membership,” Vladimir Zelensky said in the video, signing an application to join the alliance.

The president said that there can be no talks with Russia, which landed troops in Ukraine on February 24, as long as Vladimir Putin is in power, there will be no talks, but he is ready to talk to the new president.
