Two women took a dead man to a bank to withdraw his money

Estas dos mujeres llevaron un cadáver a un banco para retirar su dinero y luego lo dejaron en un hospital

Two women in the US have been charged after they took a dead man to a bank to withdraw money from his account.

The story was shot in Ohio, where Loreen Feralo (55 years old) and Karen Kasbohm (63) lived with Douglas Layman in a house in the town of Ashtabula.

The women reportedly found this 80-year-old man dead in that home.

Instead of notifying the police, they loaded the body into a car with the help of a third person and left it in the front seat for bank staff to see.

In this way, these women drove to the establishment where they had previously accompanied him to withdraw a sum of money that would have been approximately $900.

“The bank had previously allowed it as long as they were with him,” Ashtabula Police Chief Robert B. Stell said.

According to the officer’s statement, these individuals “left the body at Ashtabula County Medical Center after withdrawing the money and quickly left without providing any information about the man to hospital staff.”

However, one of the two contacted this center to provide information about the man’s body.

Officers found out about the case and went to the house to piece together the whole story. There the roommates told them about the trip to the bank.

The women had previous convictions

Specialist crime portal Law & Crime reported that the women were arrested after it was confirmed that they had taken the dead man to a bank to steal his money.

The two were accused of serious mistreatment of a corpse and robbery of a person in a position of protection.

If convicted, the women face up to two years in prison. Bail was also set at $5,000.

The news spread quickly, with many claiming that it was similar to the plot of the 1989 film “Weekend at Bernie’s.”

This film tells the story of two colleagues who find their boss dead after returning home to a party.

In this way, they try to convince the guests that the man was still alive to avoid suspicion that they killed him.

Authorities will continue to investigate this case and will perform an autopsy on Douglas Layman’s body to determine the cause of death of this 80-year-old man.

In addition, it was discovered that the two women had been involved in, among other things, assaults, robberies, property burglaries and drug possession.
