Two Motorcyclists Killed in Separate Fatal Las Piedras Sunday Crashes

It was a grim Sunday in Las Piedras, Canelones, as two motorcyclists lost their lives in separate road accidents. The victims were aged 23 and 32. Their deaths cast a shadow over the city.

The first incident happened around 1:50 PM. This crash took place at the intersection of Rodó and Brasil. A Keeway motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet van. The motorcyclist, who was 23, suffered severe multiple injuries. Emergency services rushed him to a medical center. Sadly, he died hours later from his wounds. The van driver, a 31-year-old woman, was not hurt.

Earlier that Sunday, at 4 AM, another tragic crash occurred. This one was at Bolivia and Carlos Roxlo. A Motomel motorcycle and a small, white truck crashed. The 32-year-old motorcyclist was hurt. He was taken to a local hospital. He had a head injury, causing him to forget the event. He also suffered bruising to his chest and abdomen. An emergency medical team and firefighters helped him at the scene. The 22-year-old truck driver did not have any injuries.

In both of these incidents, officers from the 4th precinct of Las Piedras responded. Forensic police carefully examined both accident sites. Las Piedras prosecutor Bárbara Zapater is leading the investigation. She is overseeing inquiries into the roles of the van and truck drivers who were involved.
