Two Bodies Found in Uruguay: Teenager and Elderly Man

On this Saturday morning, a grim discovery was made – the body of a 15-year-old teenager who had gone missing on Wednesday, March 12, was found near the Sarandí breakwater. According to the police, the body was spotted in the water at the intersection of Rambla Francia and Sarandí, in the Escollera area. The body, which was floating in the water, was identified based on its physical description and clothing, and was later confirmed by the teenager’s uncle.

It’s worth noting that on the day of his disappearance, the young boy was with a friend who had chosen not to enter the water. The friend, who did not want to be named, told firefighters that they had left their studies and decided to head to that area of Ciudad Vieja, according to initial information about the case. This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the community, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

In a separate incident, also on Saturday morning, police found a body on Malvín Beach, near the intersection of República de Chile and Hipólito Yrigoyen. The body, which belonged to an adult male, was located on the beach, face down, with a backpack on and identification documents that allowed authorities to identify him. A witness who was in the area reported seeing the victim walking on the beach around midnight.

This is not an isolated incident, as there have been other similar cases in the area recently. For instance, in the early hours of Thursday, March 13, the body of an older man was found in the waters of the Río de la Plata, near the rambla and Lorenzo Carnelli, according to the National Navy. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition. It was later revealed that the man had jumped into the sea in San Luis on February 23, claiming that a family member was “calling him from the sea.” Unfortunately, he hit a rock when he jumped into the water, which likely contributed to his death. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of water safety and the need for vigilance in coastal areas.
