Two Arrested for False Bomb Threats at Uruguay Shopping Malls

A man and a woman are in custody after making fake bomb threats to two shopping centers. They’ll face questioning by prosecutors on Friday.

The suspects allegedly called 911, warning of an explosive device at Montevideo Shopping and Punta Carretas Shopping.

Investigation and Arrests

The Interior Ministry says the pair is under investigation. Police got court approval to search homes and seized several cell phones. This led to the identification of a third person, who’s now wanted for questioning.

The ministry says it’s working to find those responsible for the fake threats.
