Twitter announces tweets of up to 10,000 characters and bold/italic format

Twitter starts charging for using SMS as two-factor authentication

Twitter has introduced a new feature that allows Twitter Blue subscribers to post tweets of 10,000 characters. Additionally, Twitter has added support for bold and italic text formatting.

In February, the social network introduced 4,000-character tweets for Blue subscribers to encourage people to post longer messages instead of threads.

This announcement comes as Elon Musk is introducing monetization tools for creators. On Thursday, he announced that creators can request monetization and offer subscriptions to users.

For the next 12 months, Twitter will give all the money to creators after paying Apple or Google their 30% stake. Thereafter, the Apple/Google rate will drop to 15% and the social media company will receive a small commission from the creators.
