Turkey Greece Fight: The deteriorating relations between Turkey and Greece could soon turn into a war. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened to attack Greece, in response to which Greece has said that it is ready to defend its sovereignty. Turkey and Greece have been at loggerheads for decades, including territorial claims in the Aegean Sea and disagreements over airspace. The conflict between these two neighbors in the last half century has brought these NATO allies to the brink of war three times. Erdoan has said that Turkey may suddenly come here some night in response to perceived threats from Greece. In such a situation, the possibility of Turkey’s attack on this country cannot be ruled out.

Erdoan had earlier made a similar statement indicating that Turkey may launch military operations in Syria and Iraq against Kurdish fighters. It calls Kurdish fighters terrorists and considers its existence a great threat. Erdoan has said these threatening things in the program related to air technology in Samsun. Where Turkey has demonstrated a prototype of an unmanned fighter jet. Here Erdoan has vented anger on Greece amid political and military tensions. Turkey also accused Greece in August of locking down Turkish fighter jets in Crete using Russian-made S-300 missile systems.

Accused of harassing Turkish planes

It also said that Greek F-16s have harassed Turkish jets by putting them under radar lock during NATO missions in the eastern Mediterranean. Turkey has also made these complaints to NATO. Greece has also accused Turkey of violating its airspace. However, tensions have been common between Turkey and Greece, both NATO member states. Turkey claims Greece is violating international agreements by militarizing the island in the Aegean Sea. Erdogan said on Saturday, ‘We are not going to be bound by the occupation of your islands. When the time comes, we will do what is necessary. As we have said, we will come suddenly one night.’

Erdoan pointed to the incident of 1922

Erdoan continued, ‘Look at history, if you go further, it will have a heavy price. We have only one thing to say to Greece: don’t forget Izmir (a city in Turkey).’ Erdoan said this in the context of the crushing defeat of the Turkish army in the capture of the Greek army in this western city in 1922. Erdogan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotanis had a rare conversation during lunch in Istanbul in March. But even this positive looking picture soon changed.

Erdogan was upset over Mitsotanis’ US visit

At the same time, in May, Erdoan said that he would no longer talk to Mitsotanis. He said this when the Prime Minister of Greece went to Washington to try to get the F-35 stealth fighter plane. Tuki also alleged that he went to the US to lobby against Turkey’s efforts to upgrade its F-16 fleet. In July, Erdoan said Turkey was not interested in going to war with Greece, but he also said that Greece should stop violating Turkish airspace.
