Erdoan had earlier made a similar statement indicating that Turkey may launch military operations in Syria and Iraq against Kurdish fighters. It calls Kurdish fighters terrorists and considers its existence a great threat. Erdoan has said these threatening things in the program related to air technology in Samsun. Turkey also accused Greece in August of locking down Turkish fighter jets in Crete using Russian-made S-300 missile systems.

Accused of harassing Turkish planes

It also said that Greek F-16s have harassed Turkish jets by putting them under radar lock during NATO missions in the eastern Mediterranean. Turkey has also made these complaints to NATO. Greece has also accused Turkey of violating its airspace. However, tensions have been common between Turkey and Greece, both NATO member states. Turkey claims Greece is violating international agreements by militarizing the island in the Aegean Sea. Erdogan said on Saturday, ‘We are not going to be bound by the occupation of your islands. When the time comes, we will do what is necessary. As we have said, we will come suddenly one night.’

Erdoan continued, ‘Look at history, if you go further, it will have a heavy price. We have only one thing to say to Greece: don’t forget Izmir (a city in Turkey).’ Erdoan said this in the context of the crushing defeat of the Turkish army in the capture of the Greek army in this western city in 1922. Erdogan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotanis had a rare conversation during lunch in Istanbul in March. But even this positive looking picture soon changed.

At the same time, in May, Erdoan said that he would no longer talk to Mitsotanis. He said this when the Prime Minister of Greece went to Washington to try to get the F-35 stealth fighter plane.
