Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off an 8-wicket win against Punjab Kings, chasing down 246 with 9 balls to spare.
Abhishek Sharma’s 141 and Travis Head’s 66 were the driving force behind this massive victory.
The match wasn’t without controversy, as Head got into a heated exchange with Glenn Maxwell during the 9th over.
Marcus Stoinis, who was part of the Punjab Kings team, stepped in to calm things down.
A Heated Exchange
The controversy began on the fifth ball of the ninth over when Head played a defensive shot.
The ball went to Maxwell, who threw it to the wicketkeeper.
Head appeared to be upset, feeling the ball had passed him, and exchanged words with Maxwell.
The tension escalated on the final dot ball of the over when Head confronted Maxwell.
Stoinis intervened, looking Head straight in the eye before diffusing the situation with a smile.
Record-Breaking Performance
Head’s 66 off 37 balls included 3 sixes and 9 fours.
He and Abhishek Sharma put together a 171-run opening stand, laying the foundation for Hyderabad’s win.
This successful chase is the second-largest in IPL history.
