Torino stalls against Venezia

Torino played this Monday during his visit to Venezia (1-1), moved away from the European positions and was placed in the ninth position, three points behind the sixth classified, Lazio.

The men led by Croatian Ivan Juric added their fourth consecutive game without losing but added a point insufficient for their continental interests. On this occasion, they lost a golden opportunity after taking the lead in the second half through the Croatian Josip Brekalo.

Torino found a team in need of points and that has only won one game this season. Venezia were clamoring for a victory to leave the relegation places and their coach, Paolo Zanetti, gave a twist to his line-up and his system to try to change his losing streak.

For the first time in the season, Zanetti used a 4-4-2 and opted for an attack formed by the Nigerian David Okereke and Norwegian Dennis Johnsen. In addition, he gave stripes to the young Moroccan promise Sofian kiyine, which debuted in an eleven of the Italian coach.

The play came out halfway. After a first half with only one clear chance with a header from Okereke, Torino went ahead through Brekalo a quarter of an hour after the restart. The Balkan player did not miss a cross from Wilfried Singo’s right wing and opened the scoring in the 56th minute.

Venezia reacted almost at the end, when Koffi Djidji committed a penalty on Johnsen for which he saw his second yellow card. Just a minute earlier, he was awarded the first after dropping Okereke on a technical foul. Mattia Aramu did not miss the maximum penalty and Venezia, with one more man, he launched himself for a victory that did not come. The draw did not satisfy anyone: Torino moved away from Europe and Venezia did not abandon the relegation places.
