Tom Dumoulin signs up for the Giro d’Italia in 2022

Tom Dumoulin will return to the Giro d’Italia in 2022, the race in which the Dutch cyclist managed to establish himself in the cycling elite with his triumph in the general classification of 2017, in which it will be the return of Dumoulin to a great lap after not running any of them in 2021 and leaving in La Vuelta in 2020.

As reported by the Dutch portal Wielerflits, Dumoulin has the Giro d’Italia as a great goal for this season, where he will look for a good position in the general standings in a race that he already conquered in 2017, in which he was second in 2018 after Chris Froome and in which he began his decline after a knee injury in the fourth stage of the 2019 Giro. In the Giro Dumoulin he will coincide with other great figures of cycling who have already confirmed their presence such as Miguel Ángel López, Vincenzo Nibali, Mikel Landa, Richie Porte, Alejandro Valverde, Simon Yates and Richard Carapaz.

Everything indicates that Dumoulin will have the gallons of leader of the Jumbo-Visma in the Giro in the absence of Primoz Roglic, who will focus on the Tour de France. Precisely the presence of Dumoulin in the Tour is a mystery, although it is expected that ‘the butterfly of Maastricht’ will take the exit in Copenhagen to try to help his teammate Primoz Roglic to get the long-awaited yellow jersey once and for all.
