Tom Brady suffers from pain in right hand, but will play on Thursday

Tom Brady acknowledged that his heavily bandaged hand is uncomfortable but hopes to play when the Buccaneers visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.

Brady injured his right hand in the first half of Tama Bay’s 45-17 win over Miami on Sunday. He finished his first career 400-yard, five-touchdown performance with a pair of touchdown passes in the fourth quarter.

“She’s a little sore, but I was hoping she was,” Brady said Tuesday. “We signed up to play a contact sport. You are going to get bumps and bruises all year long and we deal with that in the best way. The bump and bruise is on my hand. I’m just trying to prevent and be cautious, be smart. It’s been less than 48 hours since it happened, so it’s not like five days have passed, but I feel confident that I will be able to go out and do what I need to ”.

The Buccaneers (4-1), defending Super Bowl champs, are playing their third game on the road and their fourth game in 19 days. Brady, 44, leads the NFL with 1,767 yards thrown and is second in touchdowns with 15.

“If it was the left hand, I wouldn’t think two seconds about it,” Brady admitted. “The fact that it’s in the hand that I throw, there aren’t as many things as important to a quarterback as the right shoulder or elbow. Anytime you get hit in those places, it could be a problem, but I don’t think it’s a serious injury. It’s more of a hassle, but I think it will go away in a day or two. “
