This was stage 16 of the Giro d’Italia
The stage began with a fall of great domestiques such as De Plus, Kuss and Fortunato. However, luckily everyone was able to get back on the bike to help their leaders. Then there was a 17-runner breakaway that built a good four-minute lead. In the first port of the day, it was shot at 50 kilometers per hour.
With 107 kilometers to go, the breakaway income began to drop and only two riders ended up in the breakaway, Pronskiy and Scaroni. The peloton began to pick up the pace and Groupama leader Bruno Armirail began to relent and the breakaway was controlled. With 10 kilometers to go, the UAE began to manage the race situation, Roglic and Thomas were also present there.
Almeida began to get ahead with a very hard rhythm that made his pursuers Roglic, Thomas, Kuss, Dunbar and Zana will stay, after the Ineos accelerated to catch the Portuguese. Einer Rubio was one of the Colombian protagonists. The Movistar rider was in a second group and decided to speed up to catch the leading group.
